Job Description

Graduate Trainees (Development Management - FTC)Helmsley, North YorkshireAbout UsNorth York Moors National Park Authority looks after one of the most phenomenal parts of the British Isles. Filled with beautiful moorlands and breath-taking scenery, picture book villages, and a dramatic coastline, the North York Moors is a unique area withdiversity and ecosystems that are found nowhere else in the UK.We are now looking for two Graduate Trainees to join our Development Management team in Helmsley on a full-time, four years fixed term contract.The Benefits- Salary of £21,269 to £23,953 per annum (starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience)- Summer 2022 start dates- 24 days annual leave (rising annually by one day), plus eight public holidays- Pension scheme- Flexible working hours- Excellent training and development opportunities- Pool car systemThis is a fantastic opportunity for a talented graduate to join us for an exciting training programme and establish their career in planning.You will join a supportive team and will be offered extensive on-the-job training and support, as well as encouragement to get involved, ensuring your knowledge and skillset will be developed to the highest level. This will include time off & course fees paidfor you to study for an MA in Town & Regional Planning.So, if you have a strong customer focus and want to help champion the qualities that make the North York Moors a unique and special place, we want to hear from you.The RoleAs a Graduate Trainee, you will learn everything there is to know about the planning application process in a National Park. There will also be an opportunity to develop your knowledge with our Building Conservation team. Specifically, we will equip you with the skills to process applications for planning permissions, research site histories and deal with legal & heritage issues.You will provide advice to applicants, agents and third parties, both on site, in person and by telephone and deal with notifications and enquiries from the public.About YouTo be considered as a Graduate Trainee, you will need:- To be educated to a degree level or have an NVQ Level 4 in Planning Administration or a related qualification- Good customer care skills, face to face and via the telephone- The ability to write clear, effective emails and letters and formal reports- Excellent organisational skills- Excellent ICT skillsAny previous experience of working within a planning environment gained within your studies, a placement programme or in the workplace would be beneficial to your application.
