Job Description

This is a fantastic and challenging opportunity for a Workshop Engineer seeking employment in an expanding and thriving company specialising in hydraulic and pneumatic solutions established over 40 years ago.The company provides hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical services to customers across multiple sectors. This will suit an individual wanting to hone and develop their skills within a fast paced, diverse environment. This role is multi-disciplined where you are required to provide Fluid Power repairs and overhauls across a wide range of applications and industries.

  • Hours: 8:30AM to 5PM Monday to Friday
  • Salary: £32,500
Your Role:Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor & Engineering Manager, the scope is multi-skilled and you will be required to carry out repairs of customer equipment and plant within our busy workshops.
  • You will perform Engineering repairs and overhauls to a wide variety of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment & components, along with routine work on hydraulic power packs and compressors.
  • A self-starter, with experience of working with fluid power systems in industrial environements.
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and also have a friendly and approachable "can do" attitude.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and support timely delivery of items and solutions to our customers.
  • Establish develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required of the role and in order to meet the needs of the business.
  • Be enthusiastic and adaptable as at times our Site services team will require assistance.
  • An understanding of Hydraulic & Pneumatic components such as Pumps, Valves, Actuators, Filtration and associated Fluid Power applications will be required and ongoing training will be provided.
Key responsibilities:
  • Promoting the company at all times when communicating with customers.
  • Carry out repairs both in our Workshop and on site if required.
  • To Repair & Overhaul hydraulic and pneumatic Components, Actuators and Systems in the workshop.
  • To test (if appropriate) to ensure correct operating criteria are met before delivery to customer.
  • To run up and test Hydraulic systems & Compressors before delivery to customers.
  • To install hydraulic or pneumatic systems if required at customers premises as part of a team.
  • Able to fault find hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems with little information.
  • Fault diagnosis, inspection and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic components.
  • May be required to attend breakdowns at very short notice, some overtime and weekend working will be required.
  • Report as required within area of responsibility.
Essential:
  • Knowledge and understanding of fluid power products and systems.
  • A reasonable understanding of hydraulic /pneumatic drawings.
  • Must hold a relevant engineering qualification to a minimum of NVQ Level 3
  • An ability to weld and fabricate equipment would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of basic turning and milling operations would be a distinct advantage
  • Must have held a UK driving licence for a minimum of three years.
  • Ideally will have had 3-5 years experience in a similar service role, preferably within and engineering or plant maintenance environment.
  • May suit someone from a factory maintenance background
