Job Description

My client is currently seeking a Payroll assistant, this role may suit someone unqualified but has accountancy experience and would like to gain experience in the Payroll field.Job description:

  • Liaising with clients and HMRC
  • Dealing with payroll queries and acting as a second line support for our payroll administrators
  • Setting up and administrating Auto Enrolment for clients.
  • Assist the team to make improvements and implement required changes
  • Reporting and carrying out year-end procedures
  • Assisting the manager in supporting junior members of staff
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation associated with your work
Person specification:
  • Bureau experience is preferred but not essential.
  • 1 -2 years experience working within a Payroll department in a accountancy practice.
  • You will need to have run multiple pay runs and have knowledge of different types of pay - weekly, monthly, commission and bonuses, as well as ad hoc changes.
  • Ability to show initiative and work within a team.
  • Ability to build good client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to build rapport with people at various levels
  • Sage knowledge is preferred but not essential
