Job Description

We are currently seeking a Production Planner to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Newton Abbot. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company in a newly created role. Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the position holderwill be responsible for oversight and management of everyday scheduling of orders and production, making sure correct quantities of equipment, material and resource is available so the company always meets customer demands, assist in evaluation of suppliersand quality timeliness according to goals, monitor material supply flow identifying shortages or bottlenecks and drive cost savings and efficiencies through process.Key Responsibilities

  • Forecast plan and schedule production, picks from stores and van fitout accordingly.
  • Determine manpower, equipment and materials needed to cover production demand.
  • Assign production work daily and assign picks to pickers.
  • Keep a constant check on stock levels relating to production and customer demands and work with appropriate departments to meet business requirements.
  • Monitor jobs/orders to ensure on time completion.
  • Promptly address and resolve production issues to minimize delays for stakeholders.
  • Provide regular status updates on all products to relevant team members as required.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with all Operation, Sales and Procurement Staff.
  • Recommend new processes and strategies to ensure that business DIFOT and QC targets are met.
  • Produce reports on relevant data.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in operations, and production planning essential.
  • Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Confident communicator with personnel at all levels within the business, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
  • Very high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills - handling multiple and varied deadlines concurrently.
  • Organised, proactive, reliable and self motivated.
  • Collaborative and friendly approach
  • Works well as part of a wider team in an open plan environment.
