The Finance Assistant is an essential position in the company’s finance and will be involved in all areas of the finance function such as sales and purchase ledgers, book-keeping, online banking and project finances. The Finance assistant needs to be confident, proactive, and be able to multitask. They must have very good organisational skills and be able to prioritise. The salary starts at £25,000 (DoE) with Benefits including, life cover, health plan and an 8% non-contributory pension.Finance Assistant Responsibilities:The Finance Assistant role is to support the Finance Manager in providing accurate and timely information to the business and to act as a link between departments.

  • Maintaining Sales and Purchase ledgers on Xero
  • Raising Invoices to Commercial Customers
  • Completing claims for Research projects
  • Preparing project audits
  • Credit control and chasing outstanding invoices
  • Raising payments to suppliers
  • Maintenance of purchase order records
  • Filing and general bookkeeping tasks
  • Review and processing of expense claims
  • Providing support to the Finance Manager
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Working closely with individuals across the business at all levels
  • Assisting with month end procedures
  • Online banking and reconciliation
  • Control and reconciliation of company credit card account
  • Ensure companies policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Liaising with company stakeholders
  • Finance Assistant Requirements:
  • Good understanding of accounting procedures
  • Studying towards accounting qualification or similar
  • Working knowledge of Xero is desirable
  • Intermediate Excel user
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals across departments
  • Able to liaise with external customers and suppliers
  • Solid organisational skills
  • Calm under pressure and can-do attitude.
  • Ethical behaviour when dealing with sensitive financial information
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Enthusiastic, committed and fast learner
