Job Description

Band 4 Assistant Psychologist- CAMHSFull-timeStarting ASAPBased in Peterborough Responsibilities include:

  • To support the provision of psychological assessments of the young people applying psychological, including neuropsychological, tests, self-report measures, rating scales, with clients, family members and others involved in the service users care.
  • To support care provision with young people through the provision of brief psychological therapies under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychology colleagues.
  • To monitor and evaluate progress, refining interventions as necessary under supervision. To assess and manage risk within an appropriate psychological framework.
  • To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a young persons problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist in community setting.
  • To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups/ sensory circuits.
  • To work with other staff to assess and review service user’s care in preparation for multi-disciplinary treatment reviews.
  • To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users, across all settings where care takes place.
  • To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary and psychology meetings.
  • To plan and prioritise workload, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients.
  • To ensure that the young people are appropriately consulted about relevant aspects of their care and are empowered to express their views in a responsive environment.
  • To communicate skilfully, tactfully and sensitively highly complex and highly sensitive information with patients, families and colleagues.
  • To ensure the confidentiality of the information and comply with the Data Protection Act.
  • To work with the appropriate degree of autonomy and report appropriately to the designated line manager according to Trust occupational guidelines
