Machine Shop Manager (Joinery and Woodworking) - Day ShiftJob Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee our Machine Shop operation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the machine shop, supervising a team of Machinists, and ensuring the efficient and precise operationof woodworking machinery. The role involves coordinating production schedules, maintaining quality, maintaining equipment, and upholding safety standards in a dynamic woodworking environment, whilst creating an environment of continuous improvement.Responsibilities:Management and Leadership:· Supervise and lead a team of Machinists and machine programmers· Schedule and delegate tasks, ensuring efficient workflow and meeting production targets.· Train, mentor, and support team members to enhance their skills and productivity.Machine Shop Operations:· Oversee the operation, maintenance, and calibration of woodworking machinery.· Monitor machine performance to ensure precision, efficiency, and quality output.· Troubleshoot machinery issues and implement preventive maintenance schedules.Quality Control:· Enforce quality control standards to ensure products meet specifications and client expectations.· Conduct regular inspections to maintain high-quality standards in all finished products.Safety Compliance:· Uphold safety protocols and ensure adherence to safety regulations in the machine shop.· Conduct safety training sessions and promote a culture of safety among team members.Inventory and Supply Management:· Manage inventory levels of materials, tools, and supplies necessary for machine shop operations.· Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of required resources.Documentation and Reporting:· Maintain accurate records of production, machine maintenance, and inventory.· Prepare reports on productivity, efficiency, and any relevant metrics for management review.Qualifications:· Proven experience (5 years) in a managerial role within a machine shop or woodworking environment. – Not a deal breaker, we are looking for the right personality as well so we wouldn’t necessarily rule out those with less.· In-depth knowledge of woodworking machinery, tools, and materials.· Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.· Excellent problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.· Understanding of safety protocols and regulations in a workshop setting.· Proficiency in inventory management and record-keeping.· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.· Proficient in Office 365 packages (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)Benefits:· Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.· Opportunities for professional development and growth.· Collaborative and innovative work environment.· Access to company rewards and discount scheme.
