Job Description

Intelligence Officer – Leicestershire City Council Our mission is simple… to help the world Love Mondays.Every week, thousands of people across the UK start a new job – and it’s our job to help them get there.REED is a specialist provider of permanent, contract, temporary and outsourced recruitment solutions.We are recruiting for experienced Intelligence Officers to work at a location in the Glenfield area of Leicestershire. The role includes collecting, analysing, evaluating and disseminating intelligence from a wide variety of internal and external sources related to trading standards enforcement and safeguarding responsibilities.

  • To ensure the rigorous maintenance of the quality standards of intelligence recording.
  • Produce intelligence products to inform tactical decision making.
  • Submission and management of surveillance applications under RIPA legislation.
  • To receive, analyse complaints and enquiries received by the service and to respond appropriately to these.
    • Main Duties:
  • To evaluate and develop intelligence within the service including indexing and dissemination of intelligence reports
  • To act as the Single Point of Contact for the Memex intelligence recording system and responsible for its maintenance within the service
  • To train new users and provide continuous training to staff within the service on producing intelligence reports and the use of Memex.
  • To promote quality intelligence from all trading standards staff and ensure compliance with data standards required by national and local policy and procedure. Where the quality of work falls below standard that staff are advised appropriately and actions are agreed.
  • To research all available intelligence (open and closed source) to produce accurate and concise intelligence packages to support investigations by trading standards officers and the tasking process within the service.
  • To contribute to the development and maintenance of effective and secure data exchange arrangements to obtain relevant information and intelligence relevant to the services activities from relevant partner agencies.
    • This is a temporary role, working on a full-time basis for 3 months with potential for the role to be extended..
