Job Description

We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager to join a well-established multi-site retail business that supply specialist tools and machinery. This is a field based role where you will be visiting the 65 retail branches the length of the UK, howeverHead Office is Nottingham City Centre so ideally you will be based in the Midlands area.This is a permanent role offering a salary of £45-48k per annum dependent on experience, working 8.30am-6pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am-5pm on Fridays. Benefits include company car, healthcare and bonus paid twice annually!As Health and Safety Manager reporting into the Director, you will develop and implement the company health and safety policy along with associated training. Your main responsibilities will include the following:

  • Responsible for all policies, practices and operations for Health and Safety functions within the Group operations
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture by developing and implementing effective management systems and ensuring legal compliance
  • Provide appropriate risk assessment methodology to comply with legislation and ensure all potential risks are identified and control measures implemented and monitored
  • Lead any accident/ incident investigation and reporting
  • Chairing Health & Safety committee meetings
  • Perform regular audits and track H&S KPI performance
  • Liaising with officials from the regulatory authorities
  • Carrying out fire drills; and ensure that fire wardens/ marshals are appointed and trained
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
  • Conduct Health and Safety inductions for new employees and refreshers for existing employees
  • Coordinating/ monitoring of First Aid Training
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation
  • To conduct formal investigations when requested
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
  • Strong Health and Safety Management experience from a similar retail and multi site environment
  • NEBOSH Diploma qualified ideally – not essential
  • Competence in MS Office including Excel as well as Powerpoint for presentations
  • Ability to present data to senior management team
  • Previous experience in delivering Health & Safety training including inductions
  • Demonstrable knowledge in carrying out audits
  • Full clean driving license
  • Ability to travel UK wide on a regular basis
