Do you have experience working with vulnerable people or do you have a passion for helping othersAre you resilient and compassionateFive Education are looking to recruit Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistants to work with young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. The school is a specialist Alternative Provision school set in Glastonbury. The school is well regardedwith a track record of good results. The children, who are in need of extra support at the school, are dealing with SEMH challenges such as depression and social anxiety. Some of them have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). They have medicalneeds relating to special needs and mental health. This means that they struggle to regulate their own emotions and have a difficult time establishing and maintaining social relationships with peers.The person applying for this role should be able to demonstrate experience of working in a Pupil Referral Unit, or similar setting. You will need to be confident with challenging behaviour and have a resilient and compassionate personality. You will needto be able to establish an excellent rapport with hard-to-reach pupils. The work is 5 days a week, term time only and the hours are 8:30-15:30. You would be working 1:1 with children, at times the ratio of adults to children may be 2:1. Responsibilities and duties:· Supporting 1:1 in class and around the school.· Help the pupils to access the curriculum and possibly tailor the lesson of the activity to their level of ability.· Make learning fun, enjoyable and accessible.· Be a support to the pupils when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focussed.Essential Criteria:· 2 years worth of references, 1 has to be working with children or vulnerable adults (needs to be recent and this could be paid or volunteer work)· A relevant DBS/Police checks.· Able to work between 08.30-15.30, 5 days a weekWhat can Five Education offer you· One of the best supply experiences in Bristol - check out our google reviews!· Free specialised, in-person training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PMLD/SLD Awareness, Autism Awareness, and more. · Recommend a friend bonus scheme· Subsidised initial DBS cost (we pay £15, you pay £30, refunded after working 5 days)· Specialist support/ mentoring while you are workingThe pay rate is £13.55 an hour. The day is 7 hours with an unpaid lunch break.
