It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.What will you be doingAs the Senior Learning Disabilities Nurse you will have responsibility for your caseload and will be accountable for all aspects of delivering a nursing service for adults with learning disabilities/ challenging behaviour, within this criminal justice setting. You will be working with adults whose behaviours have resulted in their offending and coming into contact with the criminal justice system. As the Senior Nurse, you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team to undertake person centred specialist behavioural assessments, planning and co-ordination of positive non-aversive behavioural approaches to service users within HMP YOI New Hall and a diverse range of professionals and service providers.What we will need from youAs a Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities) with valid NMC registration and evidence of continued professional development, you will have specialist knowledge of mental health issues and the additional health needs associated with service users with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. These include (but are not limited to) psychological and emotional problems, psychosis, affective mood disorders, autistic spectrum disorder, sexual offending behaviour, surviving and living with the aftermath of sexual and physical abuse, self-harm, personality disorder, communication problems and social isolation.You will have knowledge of the specialist screening and assessment tools which are available for identifying/assessing the needs of service users with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.Further InformationThis is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week.
