Job Description

HGV Mechanic

  • Permanent position - Immediate start
  • Salary Range: £45000 - £55,000 per year
  • Location: In the Elsenham, Stansted area
  • Company van and fuel card

Specialised motorway, groundworks contractor is looking to recruit a HGV Mechanic. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in maintaining their fleet of HGV lorries, always ensuring their optimal performance.Job Overview:You will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a variety of HGVs. The primary focus will be on ensuring the vehicles are in excellent working condition, meeting all safety and regulatory standards.Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine maintenance and diagnostic repairs on HGVs.
  • Perform regular 12-weekly inspections, servicing and repair works on the fleet of HGVs.
  • MOT preparations, ensuring that all vehicles meet the necessary requirements for passing the test.
  • Complying with time recording procedures and ensure that job cards are completed accurately.
  • Organising vehicle defects as they happen and arranging the necessary parts to fix them.
  • Operate in a tidy and safe manner.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role, preferably in an automotive or fleet management environment.
  • IRTEC certification is highly desirable. (or be able to sign off vehicle inspections).
  • Strong knowledge of LGV maintenance and repair procedures, including engine diagnostics, brake systems, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with MOT preparation and testing requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and colleagues professionally.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (required).
Location: Elsenham, Stansted, Bishops Stortford areaBenefits:
