Job Description

Reed Accountancy are excited to be working with a fantastic organisation who are looking to recruit a Head of Payroll to join their busy finance function.The successful candidate will manage a team of five, overseeing the employee payment process for approximately 5,000 employees both in the UK and overseas. This role involves close collaboration with HR and requires a candidate with a strong background inpayroll management within a large, complex organisation.Day to Day of the role:

  • Recruit, develop, motivate, and manage the Employee Payments team, conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Overseeing complex pension schemes including the implementation of the annual cost of living increase
  • Manage the expenses payment process, including the Corporate Credit Card scheme.
  • Provide Treasury with accurate cashflow forecasts.
  • Design and implement a robust control environment to ensure data integrity and prevent errors or fraudulent activity.
  • Handle the requirements of internal and external audits.
  • Act as a Business Process Expert for the SAP Payroll and Expenses modules, driving functionality improvements.
  • Continually review and improve processes within the Employee Payments function to drive positive change.
  • Develop and maintain a robust business continuity plan for all key finance processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Manager, preferably within a large, complex, and unionised organisation.
  • Membership of the Institute of Payroll Management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Payroll/PAYE policy and procedures, including international payroll.
  • Strong recruitment, training, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Good knowledge of control environment attributes.
  • Business Process Expert experience with an excellent understanding of SAP.
  • Experience with SAP implementations, payroll migration, and/or change management is highly desirable.
