Summary As an Active Outdoor Assistant, you will be joining a team whose main focus is helping visitors safely use the rowing boats. You will be based outside beside the river and will work with colleagues in the Welcome Team and other departments to ensure allvisitors have a brilliant time whenever they visit Flatford. Hours and days will vary, but very regular weekend working will be required between April and September.Given the nature of this outdoors weather dependent role we are unable to guarantee a firm working pattern, but you could expect to work between 200 and 400 hours over the duration of the contract What its like to work here Flatford is a famous location that has been a tourist and cultural destination for over a century. It attracts many thousands of visitors per year, from local people walking their dogs to international visitors searching for the Constable views. As wellas beautiful countryside and fascinating history, Flatford has a very popular tea room, gift shop and exhibition. The rowing boat hire is one of the most popular features at Flatford, so you will be joining the team who help visitors enjoy there time on theriver Stour. What youll be doing You will be working outside beside the river, running the boat hire operation at Flatford on a day to day basis. Responsibilities will include: helping visitors in and out of rowing boats; ensuring the safe use of the rowing boats and maintaining high healthand safety standards; cleaning and maintaining the rowing boats and cash handling. The work will be quite physical and you will be expected to work on a floating pontoon, climb in and out of rowing boats and help visitors in and out of boats. Customer serviceand cash handling skills are also important, as is an interest in outdoor recreation. You will also work closely with the Welcome team, who manage the visitor experience at Flatford.
