Summary This role will be focused on the day to day operation of the rowing boat business at Flatford, although you may work across the site as needed.Youll be expected to work weekends on a regular basis as part of a team. The days and hours youll work each week will vary from 1 day of 6 hours to 3 days of 7.5 hours, depending on the time of year, the weather and holiday commitments of colleagues. The Active Outdoor Assistant role will be part of the Visitor Welcome team, who focus on all aspects of the visitorexperience across the site, including visitor welcome, site presentation and event management. The role is new to Flatford and the focus will be on the safe and effective day to day operation of the rowing boat business. To do this, youll work with otherActive Outdoor Assistants and the Active Outdoors Supervisor. All these roles will be line managed by the Site Manager. What youll be doing Your primary focus will be operating the rowing boat business on a daily basis. Youll be based outside and your tasks will include: preparing the rowing boats for use; welcoming visitors and undertaking key health and safety checks, takingpayment and using the booking system, helping visitors start their rowing boat trip, welcoming visitors back when they return, closing the business at the end of the day. The role will require you to climb in and out of rowing boats, row the boats when necessaryand work close to water. An ability to swim would be advantageous, although youll be required to wear a life jacket when close to water. As necessary, youll also help the Welcome Team across the site, including in the Welcome Area, near Bridge Cottage andthe surrounding countryside.
