The VacancyOVERALL SUMMARYThis role is for a solution architect within Banks Architecture team, aligned to the Commercial Division. The role will develop and promote the strategic, business-aligned architectural direction of the Commercial Division. The solution architect will work closely with the Commercial Lead Architect, Business, Delivery and Engineering Teams to shape technology solutions that deliver key strategic and regulatory change aligned to the long-term IT strategy of the Bank. The solution architect will shape and drive solution thinking and best practice across multiple areas to support delivery of regulatory, risk mitigation and strategic initiatives. The role also involves leading design reviews to ensure compliance of proposeddesigns by third party vendors. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Solution Architecture & Design
• Work with the business teams to validate high level requirements and provide an early technical assessment and initial recommendations
• Aid in the capture of requirements and interpret technical requirements and business needs into a solution
• Analyse functional and non-functional requirements, and translate them into reliable and cost effective solution architectures
• Design solutions that;
  • Encompass Application Integration solutions and introduce integration patterns and styles required to address the desired qualities of the solution
  • Support the definition and delivery of APIs that deliver requisite functional and non-functional characteristics
  • Data integration using modelling techniques, patterns and styles appropriate to the requirements being addressed
  • Resolve architectural implications of performance, scalability and extensibility of system design
  • Meet non-functional requirements that emphasise security and protecting the Bank
  • Consider the use of flexible infrastructure environments in on-premise solutions, cloud and hybrid deployments
• Manage stakeholders and communicate architectural decisions, compromises and goals to project teams and senior leadership
• Support the implementation of solutions, liaising with third parties and the wider Close Brothers architecture team.
• Support bi-modal delivery models and adapt as required by the project or delivery team. Contribute to best practise and support the ongoing improvement of delivery maturity

Delivery

• Support the project manager in delivery by identifying and leading the mitigation of any technical gaps and/or risks
• Support one or more project teams to understand and implement architectural designs, including timely decisions and acting as the teams advocate when navigating the relevant governance processes
• Represent the project at governance meetings to discuss technical aspects of the solution and disseminate knowledge amongst a wide group of functions in the Bank
• Act as the technical lead on an assigned project - provide technical direction and mentoring for all project resources

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF:

• Experience working as a solution architect in a regulated environment for at least 5 years
• Demonstrable experience of delivering designs in one or more FS domains, such as Loans, Payments, GL & Accounting, Insurance, etc
• Experience of the transformation/migration of legacy applications into modern digitally aligned solutions
• Delivery of more than one architecture with a significant element of application integration
• Experience of supporting domains such as Infrastructure and InfoSec
• Experience of communicating complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders
• Effective, concise communicator, comfortable presenting at senior stakeholder level
• Experience of working in multi vendor, multi skilled delivery environments

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU:

• Configuration of Salesforce and integration with multiple external services
• IBM Integration integration technologies such as IIB, DataPower and MQ
• Architecture modelling using tools such as Sparx EA, Archimate, Visio
• Understanding of project approaches (Agile, Waterfall, V-Model)
• Practical understanding of Enterprise/Solution Architecture (TOGAF)
• Experience of platform oriented development and collaboration
