Job Description

Position: Registered Manager – ResidentialSalary: £32,643 to £34,855 plus annual bonus schemeLocation: Earls Colne, Colchester, Essex, CO6 2RNService: Grammar School House, Consensus Support Services About the Residential Service:

  • CQC Rated GOOD - Grammar School House is a caring, nurturing 12 bedded residential service for adults, located in the pleasant village of Earls Colne near Colchester. Providing support for individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. Some individuals may also have additional physical disabilities.
  • There is a warm, positive, homely atmosphere at Grammar School House. The long-standing, caring and supportive team ensure a person-centred approach to support individual’s bespoke and often complex health and physical needs. They are trained in PEG feeding and how to act in the event of an individual having a severe epileptic seizure.
  • The home is made up of two bungalows, each with six bedrooms and is wheelchair accessible to support people with additional physical disabilities. There are also pleasant outside areas and gardens around the property.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • As Registered Manager of this Residential Service for persons with Learning Disabilities & Physical Disabilities, you will lead and work with a team to efficiently and effectively provide operational and strategic direction, setting clearly defined work objectives for both yourself and others and ensuring these are successfully achieved against agreed timelines and directives.
  • With the aim of enabling the service users to lead a valued and fulfilling life and to maximise their independence to enable them to achieve their full potential, ensuring that the service is run in an efficient and responsible manner, balancing the achievement of budget with the ethos of excellent quality.
  • Effective management of financial performance, ensuring financial resources are appropriately managed & controlled.
  • Promote quality assurance, working towards legal, clinical, statutory and organisational obligations, to develop effective work strategies and processes, to ensure that the business is run in an efficient and responsible manner, balancing the maximisation of profitability with the ethos of excellent quality.
  • Balance the level of acceptable risk against the need to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all concerned in all decision making. With the aim of enabling the service users to lead a valued, fulfilling life and to maximise their independence to enable them to achieve their full potential.
  • To actively promote a learning culture, seeking cost effective resources to maximise learning and development opportunities, ensuring that the training compliance levels are met and maintained.
  • Ensure full and accurate reporting of management information via CMT and the Compliance Report.

  • About You/Skills & Experience Required:
  • Significant experience of managing a Residential Service – preferably as Registered Manager with CQC
  • Experience of working with individuals who have learning disabilities or complex behaviours
  • Qualified with the minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Support and training towards NVQ Level 4 and 5 is available
  • A good knowledge of relevant Health & Safety Regulations
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident, flexible, and efficient, you are happy to work on a shift basis, and, where required, to be on-call
