Job Description

Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Chemistry)Job Type: PermanentHours: 37.5 hours per weekJob Location: Aberdeen (AB21 7GQ)Salary: £18,000 - £24,000We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Laboratory Technician to join our Oil and Gas Laboratory where the successful candidate will gain experience in all aspects of the laboratory from sampling, receipt and registration of samples to analysis and reporting.As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll receive a salary of between £18,000 - £24,000, depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus, retail discount scheme, private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform sampling and analysis to recognised international and approved procedures.
  • Adhere to documented laboratory procedures and record raw analytical data for approval prior to issuance to clients.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of analytical performance ensuring the laboratory operates to the defined requirements of ISO 17025 (accredited by UKAS).
  • Report equipment/ instrumentation failure to senior staff member to execute remedial action and thereby ensure continuity of service.
  • Delivery of allocated daily tasks within defined timescales to maximise operational outputs and efficiencies.
  • Assist in booking of samples and raw data entry using SGS Lims system (Cclas) to ensure prompt turnaround on sample analysis.
  • Escalate client enquiries to senior staff member for action/ resolution to ensure timely response and client satisfaction.
  • YOUR PROFILE Skills / Experience:
  • Experience of practical chemistry or related science subject.
  • Must be computer literate in use of MS Packages.
  • Must have a rudimentary knowledge of chemistry, analytical equipment and methods.
