Job Description

  • 6 - 12 months experience post-graduation in either academia or industry as a Scientist or Research Assistant/Research Associate with practical tissue culture laboratory experience in one or more of the following areas: Cancer Cells, IPSCs or Organoids
  • Based on the above you will have extensive mammalian cell culture experience with a background in troubleshooting and process development
  • Naturally you will have excellent organisational skills with a flair for collaboration, multitasking & prioritising
  • Experience with cellular assays such as flow cytometry is desirable as is experience designing and interpreting CRISPR/Cas experiments
  • You will relish the opportunity to work in an environment that promotes independent thinking & teamwork
The responsibilities of the Advanced Research Assistant role:
  • You will immerse yourself in exciting activities to progress cellular projects which involves generating, culturing, and manipulating a variety of cell lines (stem cells, primary cells, and immortalised cell lines) and running cellular phenotyping (assaysand imaging) activities on the lines
  • Perform cell line manipulation such as differentiation, transduction, and transfections to a high standard to prepare them for downstream analysis
  • Develop and run robust cellular protocols and assays to generate accurate reproducible data
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, in line with CGaP standards and processes
  • Contribute significantly to the analysis, review, and reporting (verbal and written) of the data collected
  • Support the day to day running by ensuring all staff are working in accordance with management instructions, risk assessment, ethics, SOPs and other Institute/department specific processes or practices
  • Promote and role-model a culture of continuous process improvement, open communication, creativity, and positivity.
