Our school is located in the picturesque town of Disley, Stockport, surrounded by beautiful countryside and offering asupportive and nurturing environment for both students and staff. We cater to students with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities.As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of our students. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will provide individualized assistance to students, ensuringtheir inclusion and progress within the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting teachers in planning and delivering tailored lessons to meet the specific needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Providing one-on-one support to students during class activities and ensuring their active participation.
  • Supporting students with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance when required.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering the social and emotional development of students.
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • Understanding of different learning needs and ability to adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of students with special needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the individual needs of students.
  • Basic knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the ability to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:While formal qualifications are not essential, the following would be advantageous:
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent)
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities (or equivalent)
