Job Description

Job title: Manual Machinist - Vertical Borer Salary Range: £26,364 to £28,392 per annum (£13-£14 Per Hour) Overtime paid at: Time & Third in the week Time and Half Saturday Double time Sunday Hours: 07:30 - 15:30 Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 14:30 Friday Location: Cradley Health, West Midlands Permanent position working for a UK leading manufacturer within the Marine, MOD, Motorsport, Aerospace, Rail Oil and Gas sector. A manual machinist is required with knowledge of vertical boring using large Webster Bennett vertical borers .Candidates with experience of machining large parts to extremely tight tolerances will be well received.Due to ongoing expansion this client based in Cradley Heath requires a dynamic, leading vertical boring machinist on a permanent basis. As a manual machinist, you will be required to:

  • Set and operate large Webster Bennett vertical boring machines
  • Machine large sized parts for the nuclear industry
  • Tool changes where needed
  • First offs
  • First off inspections
  • Using Verners, Gauges, Micrometres and manual CMMs
  • Producing setup documents
  • Working with low volume high value parts
  • Working with large parts
  • Low batch work so ability to work with short leads times
  • Reading GD&T drawings
    • The manual machinist should have the following skills or experience:
  • Webster Bennett vertical boring machines or other large vertical borers
  • Worked with large parts
  • CNC milling of large sized parts
  • Low volume batch work with high value parts
  • Worked to tight tolerances
  • CMM and manual measuring would be advantageous
