Job Description

We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outsidecommunity. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise theneed to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP & YOI Parc accommodates 1038 convicted male adult prisoners and remand/ convicted young offenders and young peoplein a secure but modern environment.We now have an opportunity for a Engineering Team Leader to join our team at HMP Parc. The role requirements are to coach and develop the hard services element of the Total Facilities Management (TFM) services to meet operational and business requirements.To lead the team and ensure completion of all PPMs in target, distribute/allocate and control the reactive workload ensuring that all jobs are completed and any outstanding actions are closed off.Actively promote the importance and values of effective communication throughout G4S of environmental / Quality / H&S good practice, compliance and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead, coach and develop the hard services team to meet daily delivery schedules and business requirements for the contracted FM services.
  • To allocate work and ensure effective use of all staff throughout the working shift, and monitoring available trades so that effective working groups are formed.
  • To monitor & sample work orders to ensure completed correctly and all processes are being followed so that it is compliant with the SMC baseline structure.
  • To work closely with the Head of FM to ensure KPI targets are fully met.
  • To deliver team briefings, toolbox talks and all relevant health & safety processes to the team.
  • To develop and maintain an effective working relationship so that the Prison needs are understood and the company reputation enhanced.
  • To foster an environment of continuous improvement to maximise and meet operational needs of the business.
  • To support the team in continually reviewing operational procedures to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Develop & support positive team ethos conducting regular team briefings.
  • To ensure that plans are in place to maintain staffing levels appropriate to meet contractual requirements. (Eg Management of Staff Holidays, time & attendance, sickness /absence monitoring).
  • To monitor and arrange staff inductions, training, for direct reports including EDR’s
  • To carry out the policies and procedures of G4S & Host Establishment, including: Fire, Health and Safety, Accidents, Security, Infection Control, Complaints, Confidentiality.
  • To run reports to follow through on outstanding jobs to meet target deadlines
  • To issue, monitor and review a fully auditable permit to work system, to maintain compliance under health & safety.
  • Review & update were necessary task specific risk assessments in accordance with working practices, guidance and regulations.
  • Uphold maintenance standards in accordance with SFG20, reviewing frequency of maintenance to establish an effective regime and maximise efficiency of the maintenance team.
  • Ensure that all critical & essential spares are aligned with the sites requirements, reviewing and monitoring lead time frames against contract KPI guidelines.
Essential Skills:
  • Fully qualified and experienced within a Electrical/mechanical engineer discipline
  • Excellent Organisational skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability to handle issues of high sensitivity
  • TFM Management experience
  • A high level understanding of building fabric and M & E services.
  • Good Team working
Desirable Skills:
  • Understanding of FM contractand its role within the organisation
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written
  • Resilient and able to work well on own initiative while under pressure, meeting tight deadlines while balancing a number of priorities.
  • IOSH managing safety
  • Working in a supervisory role
