Job Description

My client, a national logistics company based in Hemel Hempstead are looking for a site operations manager to join their team on the night shift. This is an exiting opportunity with endless opportunity for growth. They are extremely invested in their employeeswellbeing and offer excellent benefits. This would ideally suit somebody experienced, looking to join a company where they encourage promotion within.Salary: up to £55,000Hours: Contracted hours will be 6pm - 2am. However this can be variable, for example 4pm - 12pm where the business requires.Location: Hemel HempsteadThe Role:

  • Overseeing up to 150 staff on shift at one time, divided into several teams of 10-20. Liaising with line managers closely to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Working within the departmental budget to own and achieve targets
  • Ensuring that all requirements relating to safety, health, environment and quality are being fully implemented in the warehouse.
  • Co-ordinate the warehouse functions of the distribution centre
  • Ensure the efficient and cost effective fulfilment of all customer requirements
  • Communicating at all timesholding regular organised meetings, as well as ad hoc catch ups, with your teams to help them understand their key priorities.
  • Liaise closely with the customers to ensure all productivity, accuracy and cost targets are met and exceeded
  • Reporting into the Warehouse Manager
  • People management including one to ones, professional development and creating a productive atmosphere.
  • Overseeing all logistical operations while on shift
  • Accountability for overall productivity within the operation, ensuring that activities are cost effective and levels of manpower and other resources are managed efficiently
  • Working in a chilled environment
  • Liaising with multiple departments to ensure smooth running of the business as a whole.
  • Maintaining and improving performance levels to maximise efficiency of operation in line with account KPIs
  • attending interdepartmental meetings, raising issues, concerns, ideas and sharing any positive news.
  • Supporting First Line Managers with counselling, coaching and the development of all employees
The Person:
  • Hands on experience of a warehouse function, ideally within temperature controlled distribution.
  • A background operating at a Senior Manager level is a must. Experience managing multiple teams at one time, and a similar amount of staff overall (100+ would be ideal)
  • A passion for encouraging team work, with an innovative approach to managementbeing creative and implementing new ways to improve performance.
  • Excellent team management and customer relationship skills
  • An understanding of Trade unions and how best to resolve any issues which may arise.Benefits:
