Job Description

About the roleThe Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a Performance and Improvement Lead on an interim 3-month basis (with possible extension).You will be working in the Communities and Skills Directorate supporting the development of the Performance and Improvement function ensuring effective support to the Directorate Leadership Team’s (DLT) in continually improving Communities and Skills - witha particular emphasis on equality, diversity and inclusion.Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the establishment of the Performance and Improvement Function by integrating existing programme office and business management functions from across Community and Skills.
  • Develop and lead cross-cutting work programmes in alignment with the Mayor and partners’ future vision for London.
  • Develop and lead a programme of work, across Communities and Skills, for other key improvements, including (but not restricted to) the Mayoral manifesto, strategic themes, the Communities and Skills budget and Spending Reviews.
  • Support the Head of Performance and Improvement in their leadership of the Performance & Improvement function - ensuring it continues to provide effective people, finance and PMO support to the Executive Director and Assistant Directors and identifyingopportunities to strengthen and coordinate improvement and PMO operations more widely across Communities and Skills. This will include the design and implementation of new processes and ways of working.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
  • Programme and project management – able to manage a broad portfolio, driving progress, managing risks and monitoring delivery. Highly organised, with an attention to detail and a commitment to getting things done.
  • Operations and tactical awareness – able to see the links between different policy and functional areas, to identify opportunities to work across silos, and to understand and work effectively within the wider political, social and economiccontext.
  • Systems approach – able to understand the logic of systems (both manual and computerised), the business need for having them and how they are best deployed and supported with methodical, well documented and clear processes and procedures.
  • Understands the core principles in bringing about improvements in a workplace setting.
