Job Description

Employer description:FDS is a wholly owned subsidiary of DXC Technology providing a vast range of services to DXCs customers in 9 European countries.FDS specialises in identifying the customers specific needs and creating a cost-effective robust solution to meet their requirements, ranging from field and fixed site delivery solutions through to technical services and application support.Overview:Here at FDS we have an exciting opportunity for a Desktop Support Engineer Apprentice to join our experienced & welcoming team of engineers based on our clients site in Chester.As an Apprentice with FDS, you will be enrolled on to a 24-month L3 Azure Cloud Specialist Apprenticeship programme with the option of moving to higher level qualifications and a genuine opportunity of securing a permanent role on successful completion ofthe programme.This is an excellent opportunity to join us and as an employee you will gain access to a large library of training courses and accreditations to help further your skills and development.The successful candidate will be someone who can blend first rate customer service skills with hands on IT support.Salary:£12,000 per annum, rising to £21,000 over 2-years.Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing end user workplace support through a mixture of remote tools, telephone assistance and Deskside support.
  • Take ownership and management of tickets, including responsibility for the resolution and timely functional escalation within contracted SLAs.

  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to methodically work through issues
  • Must be able to deal directly with clients in a friendly and highly confident manner demonstrating excellent internal and external customer communication skills
  • Always seen to be helpful when dealing with clients and within the team, and display professionalism and patience when offering advice and support
  • Be comfortable completing a certain amount of administration that includes updates in Service Now (Ticketing System)
  • There may be an occasional requirement to backfill/assist on other local sites
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11 and Microsoft Office 365
Successful candidates must be willing to undergo security clearance prior to being accepted for the role. For this reason, we are only able to progress with applications from British nationals.Entry requirements:
  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.Find out more here:https://Qualifications/UKQRS/Default.aspxHours of work:Monday to Friday between 8:00am - 6:00pm,37.5 hrs per week.Benefits of completing the course:
