Senior EcologistBrecon, PowysAbout UsThe Brecon Beacons National Park Authority protects the natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage of Brecon Beacons National Park.We are currently looking for a Senior Ecologist to join us at our Headquarters in Brecon on a full-time, permanent basis.The Benefits- Salary of £36,922 - £38,890 per annum- Pension- Offices based in one of the UKs most beautiful sites- 22 days holiday per annum (rising to 25 days after five years) plus eight public holidays and two extra statutory daysThe RoleAs a Senior Ecologist, you will provide high-quality expertise for the conservation and enhancement of the Parks wildlife and natural beauty, as well as practical advice and training.Developing strategic policy, plans, advice and research, you will ensure that conservation is at the heart of all Authority business and services.You will undertake and commission surveys, surveillance and monitoring of habitats and species, as well as supporting the practical management of land owned and managed by the Authority.Additionally, you will lead the development and implementation of projects and proposals for nature recovery.About YouTo be considered as a Senior Ecologist, you will need:- At least three years proven management, supervisory and/or natural resource management experience, ideally within a protected area, local authority planning department and/or conservation organisation- Previous experience of research and development within the public sector- Experience providing policy-informed advice and recommendations to colleagues- Previous experience of handling budgets and other resource management- In-depth knowledge of natural history, conservation principles and practice- To be educated to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a similar environmental subject- A full, valid driving licencePlease note, this role will require working occasional evenings and/or weekends with time off in lieu.The closing date for applications is the 4th February 2022.Other organisations may call this role Senior Ecology Advisor, Senior National Park Ecologist, District Ecologist, Senior Wildscapes Ecologist, or Senior Planning Ecologist.Webrecruit and Brecon Beacons National Park Authority are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment.
