Job Description

Over time our 2 homes will accommodate up to 5 children aged between 11 and 18 and the focus will be to provide an enriching and positive environment ensuring we prepare the children in ourcare to move onto safe and nurturing foster care placements which will be achieved through early intervention.We are looking for a Deputy Manager for one of these homes to support the growth and development of our service.As aDeputyManageryou will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:

  • Coordinatingand overseeingthe work of the activity staff delivering activities- this will include reading and acting on post-activity debriefs and ensuring that workbooks are being completed.
  • Managingthe performance of individuals within the team addressing performance and conduct issues at the earliest stage. With the support of the Registered Manager and Human Resources team address disciplinary and poor performance issues through the formalprocedure as appropriate.
  • Leadingin the delivery of a positive,safeand homely environment, including the promotion of a warm and accepting atmosphere, where the safety and care of young people is paramount.
  • Ensuringthat relevant records and documents are accurate, kept up to date and are stored securely and confidentially at alltime. Support the Registered Manager in audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Managingand analyse challenging behaviour resulting from complex needs and formulate plans to reduce the likelihood of future similar events.To support colleagues in their reflective practice to develop an understanding of the underlying issues to challengingbehaviour.
  • Involvingyoung people in decisions about their care plan and risk assessments,in order tomaximise their choices, giving due consideration to their wishes and feelings.
This role is offered on a permanent basisworking37.5 hours a week,Monday-Friday.Depending on the needs of the homeworking days could range in duration of hours from07:30 until 22:00. These would be as part of a rollingrota and alternating shiftpattern,andwould mean you could take a weekday off, should youcomplete your contracted hours having workedlongershifts.All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.You and your specialismsManagement roles withinourfrontline services help achieve our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. To support this, you will be required to have, or be working towards a minimum of the following qualificationlevels:
  • To hold a relevant qualification including Level 3 CYPW Diploma in childcare or equivalent and working towards/ hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership.
  • Tounderstandand work within the Quality Standards alongsidethe Regulation and Inspection of Social Care Wales Act 2016and adhere to Fair Ways Policies and Procedures.
