Job Description

We are recruiting for a Mortgage Administrator for a highly successful and award winning practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management based in Brailsford, Derby (DE6 3). The candidate will support a new and developing mortgage department, delivering a first class support to the Mortgage & Financial Advisers within the team and communicating efficiently with clients and external providers.Role overviewWorking within a new arm of one of the largest and most successful wealth management Practices in the East Midlands, you will be given the support and opportunity to progress your career in a structured and rewarding manner.Initially you may be focused on supporting the Financial Advisers with administrative support on all generalist financial products, and as the new mortgage department develops you will be a key and integral support to this side of the business too.You will be working alongside our team of Mortgage & Financial Advisers to assist them in delivering a first class, professional client service. This challenging role requires a high level of organisational skill to prioritise and coordinate workload activities, whilst ensuring the Advisers are fully supported in their roles. At the same time as supporting the Mortgage Department, you will be provided with training and guidance to help develop your understanding of the wealth management side of the business - with the longer-term aim of progressing into a Client Support role, and beyond.The position requires strong attention to detail and accuracy due to the complex nature of the services we offer to our clients. A prior understanding of mortgage or financial services administration would be a definite advantage for any candidate wishing to apply.Following initial training, the successful applicant will be the main liaison between the client and the Adviser, ensuring all applications are up to date and all supporting documents have been obtained. You will stay in contact with providers and provide updates to the clients to keep aware of their applications - good communication skills are a must.The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop and grow within the role, training will be provided with the backing of a FTSE 100 company. Full support will be provided for those candidates wishing to study for professional qualifications and begin a long-term, successful career within wealth management.Key Responsibilities

  • Processing lender submissions, including keying decision in principles, applications and fulfilling all system requirements.
  • Document checking for our clients to ensure that they align to our standards and meet lender requirements.
  • Managing the journey: working with the client/adviser and lender through the mortgage journey from initial assessment, approval, to offer and post-offer stage.
  • Communicating with advisers/clients and lenders as the business demands.
  • Maintaining and updating data on internal CRM systems.
  • Ensuring that a full audit trail is made and follow up tasks are made for compliance purposes.
  • Preparation of paperwork and applications.
  • Handling general telephone enquiries and inbound calls to the mortgage team.
  • Proactively managing cases through to completion.
  • Key Experience & Skills
  • A proven track record of working in a busy, mortgage administration role or a within a IFA / financial adviser company.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with others by delivering on promises, and by dealing effectively and courteously with client queries.
  • Good knowledge of mortgage and protection policies.
  • Experience of the online mortgage lenders and insurance providers websites and portals.
  • Experience liaising with clients, solicitors, estate agents, and lenders.
  • Outstanding telephone manner and excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills in order to handle multiple tasks, stay focused under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Approach work positively with a can-do attitude and takes responsibility for tasks.
  • Confident in having challenging conversations.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Packages including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Display professional appearance to maintain our company brand.

  • Additional information:
  • Salary: £20-25K per annum dependant on skills and experience
  • Bonus: Discretionary bonus linked to personal progression, and both personal and business performance
  • Training: Scope for training and progression within a long-term financial services career
  • Hours of work: 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday
  • Holiday entitlement: 20 days per annum, plus bank holidays (increases over time)
  • Pension: Generous pension provided
  • Please note that under Government National Lockdown this role will commence on a remote basis and shall be full-time office based once restrictions are lifted.
