We also work in partnership with key players in the food supply chain to ensure our food is safe, affordable and nutritious.The RoleAssist the UK Diet and Health Policy Manager in the development and promotion of industry policy in diet, health and nutrition. To advise members on scientific, technological and regulatory developments in respect of these policies and to promote industry’s work to wider stakeholders. As Diet and Health Executive, you will:Develop and review policy relating to diet and health, including, but not limited to, obesity strategies across the UK and the Public Health England reformulation programmes. This will include liaising and exchanging information and views with relevant interested parties, developing responses to consultations and producing committee papers to meet specified deadlines.Support the UK Diet and Health Policy Manager in representing FDF’s policies to Government, Public Health England, Welsh Government, retailers, food service and consumer organisations.Help communicate FDF policies clearly and accurately, which will include ensuring that the diet and health section on the FDF website and associated policy briefings are kept up to date.Provide advice to industry, including both trade associations and individual companies. This will also include giving oral updates at various meetings, including deputising for the UK Diet and Health Policy Manager as appropriate. Support the communication of diet and health policy work through FDF webinars and podcasts.Provide secretariat support including minute writing for a range of meetings, including the Nutrition Committee – a committee of nutrition and regulatory managers from member companies.Monitor scientific, technical and regulatory developments and UK Government policies and proposals that relate to the food and drink industry. Keeping up-to date with the latest nutrition research and related media activity.Assist in scheduling and organising meetings where required and occasionally other events such as conferences, workshops and seminars.The TeamFDF’s Regulation, Science and Sustainability team provide a timely and expert service to members, on technical and regulatory developments of interest to the UK food and drink industry. The team covers a wide range of issues including Allergens, Food Contact Materials, Food Law and Labelling, Residues and Contaminants and support a number of serviced Sector Associations on specific category areas of interest.RequirementsThis role requires consultation with, and provision of advice to, the food industry, directly to companies and through trade associations, as well as exchanging information and views with Government and a wide range of other organisations and groups. This requires an ability to understand, discuss and explain the detail and implications of policies with both technical experts and non-scientists.
