Job Description

Communications Executive with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a proactive and creative approach and with experience of working in a corporate affairs, political or media environment is required to join our team at TheFood & Drink Federation, based in Bloomsbury, London.SALARY: £24,000 - £26,000 per annumLOCATION: Bloomsbury, LondonJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentHOURS: 35 hours per week; hybrid working option (minimum 3 days in the office)OUR ORGANISATIONThe FDF is a powerful voice for the UKs vibrant, resilient and diverse food and drink manufacturing industry. For over 100 years, we have successfully contributed to policy making and legislative development, championing our members views - large and small- on the critical issues of the day.We bring together business, government and stakeholders to ensure our manufacturers have the right conditions to grow, invest and employ, while continuing to produce high quality, nutritious and affordable food and drink.THE ROLEAs Communications Executive you will be responsible for executing FDFs internal PR strategy, boosting our reputation and profile across the media landscape.The role of Communications Executive is crucial in leveraging relationships with members and colleagues to promote our leadership, policy experts and key FDF priorities through new media outlets.As the Communications Executive you will be responsible for:

  • Keeping abreast of political and media developments affecting food and drink manufacturing, providing timely advice to FDF colleagues and members on relevant items such as parliamentary activity and media campaigns
  • Assisting with the compilation of regular reports and newsletters for FDF colleagues and members, including developing communication solutions, maintaining an accurate stakeholder management database, planning events and sourcing case studies
  • Taking ownership of the FDFs web content and relevant social media channels, while providing communications support to our FDF Scotland and Cymru colleagues
  • Assisting with the communications, logistics and delivery of FDF events, including the annual Parliamentary Reception, commercial events and other ad hoc events
  • With other members of the Communications Team, running the 24-hour on call press office and handle media queries, seeking advice from specific FDF colleagues
REQUIREMENTS
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working within a corporate affairs, political or media environment
  • Good understanding of politics and Westminster parliamentary processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Can display knowledge of using a CMS and being active on social media
  • A persuasive and diplomatic communicator with the ability to handle confidential information sensitively and quickly build trusting relationships with a wide range of individuals
  • Able to work as part of a team and multi-task, with good time management skills
  • A proactive and creative approach
  • Ability to work flexibly and cope with change
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Able to demonstrate interest in the food and drink sector
  • Competent in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
