Offering a wide selection of services, we are the total waste partner to a variety of industry sectors.Hazardous Waste Chemist - The Role:Ensure that all hazardous waste collections from customer sites are undertaken safely and are legally compliant. Assess customers’ hazardous waste collection requirements and advise on best practice, make recommendations and identify commercial opportunities.Hazardous Waste Chemist - Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain highest standards of health and safety at all times
  • Travelling to the customer industrial and commercial sites in order to assess/investigate and collect any required waste, gather relevant data/ information in order to gain a full understanding of the waste nature and hazards associated with it
  • Collate a full site report/ information pack for submission to the Industrial Hazardous Waste Manager in accordance with existing environmental legislation
  • Prepare representative samples of prospective wastes to be collected in accordance with WM3 guidance
  • To assist the Site Chemist to perform pre-acceptance analysis on proposed new wastes to ensure permit compliance
  • Describe / list/ label wastes to be collected considering the requirements of ADR, applicable site licenses and permit conditions in accordance with WM3 guidance, ensuring all relevant documentation is completed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Pack wastes in line with the requirements of ADR and any applicable site licenses and permit conditions, ensuring that it is suitably segregated for transportation
  • Prior to collection consider viable treatment and disposal routes to support the preparation of sale quotations
  • Post-collection site visits to discuss recommendations with customer and account managers to discuss segregation / frequency of collections and waste storage moving forward
  • Visit prospective and existing customers in order to ensure all pre-collection requirements are communicated and adhered to
  • Liaising with suppliers as required
  • Support the Industrial Hazardous Waste Manager with duty of care visits to 3rd party disposal sites
  • Ensure that effective communication and professional advice/support/guidance is provided to management, customer service, operations and transport teams
  • Knowledge, Training, Experience, Technical and Personal Skills:Required:
  • Hazardous waste management experience
  • Experience working in customer facing role
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers in order to understand the requirements
  • Proactive and safety focused approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive and motivated with flexible and adaptable attitude
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively and to plan and manage own agenda
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective and positive working relationships within and outside of the department
  • Highly focused on delivering results and objectives with a strong personal commitment to supporting the business in achieving its goals in a changing environment
  • Must demonstrate high levels of integrity and adopt a professional approach in all interactions - should be transparent, open and honest in all dealings
  • HNC level in Chemistry as a minimum
  • ADR
  • IOSH
  • Strong PC and technical knowledge and skills with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
  • Full UK driving licence and experience of to drive a 3.5 tonne van
  • Desirable:
