Job Description

Job Title: Research and Development Scientist (Full time, Permanent)Location: Bedfordshire, UKHours: Monday to Friday, days onlyREED Scientific is representing an innovative Biotech based in the Bedfordshire area. They are looking for a motivated Research & Development Chemist to join their R&D team to provide polymer chemistry, immunoassay, and biochemistry expertise. They willneed to be hands on in terms of running the laboratory for the company and will be required to be in the lab on a daily basis.The Role

  • The Research Scientist should have a good understanding of practical organic chemistry as it relates to polymer design, their characterisation and manufacturing. and be able to apply this to development of synthetic antibodies for assays or resins.
  • They should be creative in their problem solving and be very organised, with the ability to learn new skills rapidly in a varied area of research and development.
  • The Research Chemist will use their expertise in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry and biochemistry to contribute ideas and solutions to company projects.
  • They will be required to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The working environment is fast-paced, and the Research Scientist will need to step out of their comfort zone regularly.
  • Delivering high quality results should be their aim.
  • They will be required to make a positive contribution to complying to the ISO9001 quality system, writing and approving documents as necessary.
Education, experience and skills required:
  • A degree in chemistry or a related discipline with previous experience of working in the polymer production industry.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or, preferably, ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software packages with the ability to maintain accurate records according to GLP and ISO9001 standards is essential.
