Job Description

Position: Control Centre OperativeLocation: Barham, KentHours: 37.5Days, Nights and to include some weekends. Salary Details: Grade 3 - £20,436 - £21,567 per annum (£10.48 - £11.06ph)Cedar House is a 40 bed hospital for adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues, personality disorders, autism and challenging behaviours, who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Cedar House enjoys a beautiful rural location situated in thevillage of Barham, on the outskirts of Canterbury and is easily accessible by public transport, being on the main bus route between Canterbury and Folkestone.We are looking to appoint a Control Centre Operator to join our friendly and established Administration Team, working a mixture of day and night shifts and some weekends. The Control Centre is the hub of the hospital, and our Control Centre Operators are thefirst point of contact for staff, visitors and patients entering the secure area. Do you share out company ValuesAre you positive, Empowering, person centred and innovative Key Skills: Issuing and recording of secure keys and Nurse Attack Alarms to staff entering and leaving the secure area (including breaks), by way of a Secure Key Management System (key tracker). Carry out key audits throughout the shift and a full audit at handover. Assist in an efficient staff and patient transition through the Control Centre by effective air lock door control. Checking Agency and Staff IDs with information held on file and liaising with the Training Co-ordinator to keep the file up to date Ensuring Protocol is followed by Staff and Visitors entering the secure area in that no prohibited items are taken on site. Operation of the telephone system and acting as focal point for enquiries in the Unit, liaising with staff, patients and visitors as appropriate. Locate relevant staff to escort or greet visitors on to secure area or Admin Block. Managing the external and internal distribution of mail. Booking Company vehicles via telephone and email for patient transport and entering onto the Outlook system and Centralised Diary System (CDS). Liaising with Staff to re-arrange any bookings and ordering taxis if necessary. Issuing vehicle packs to staff ensuring that the key, fuel card, mobile phone, disabled badge are in order and accounted for. Recording details in the vehicle log book. Maintaining the Approved Drivers file. Arrangement and recording of taxi bookings. Forwarding Application Forms and Job Descriptions via mail and email. Ensuring the Control Centre has sufficient stationery requirements. Producing administrative documents and filing to assist in the efficient running of the Control Centre. Providing secretarial/administrative support including word processing of reports, correspondence, policy documents and other ad hoc items for the senior staff ensuring timely and efficient production. Provide cover for absence of colleagues as appropriate and in particular for planned or sickness absence of the other Control Centre Operators. To conform at all times to the Policies and Procedures of the Company, with particular regard to confidentiality, financial and administrative responsibilities, and treat Patients, Colleagues and visitors with dignity and respect at all times. To undertake any other appropriate roles and responsibilities as requested and required.The Role:The post-holder will be representing our services as the first point of contact and will need to have highly developed professional standards in their approach to all visitors, patients and staff.The Post holder has a duty to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to undertake the tasks requested of them.
