Job Description

Cedar House is a 40-bed hospital for adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues, personality disorders, autism and challenging behaviours, who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Cedar House enjoys a beautiful rural location situatedin the village of Barham, on the outskirts of Canterbury and is easily accessible by public transport, being on the main bus route between Canterbury and Folkestone.Currently we are looking to appoint a Fulltime Assistant Psychologist, Who is out going and Passionate about provided support for adults with Developing, Recovering or maintaining their daily living skills with Mental Health Problems, Learning Disabilitiesand Autism. Knowledge of evidence-based methods of challenging behaviour. Knowledge of how to present information effectively and appropriately. Knowledge of methods of collecting and analysing data. Knowledge of establishing, implementing and evaluating intervention programmes. Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities including Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Severe Challenging Behaviour, Intellectual Disabilities, as well as general mental health and secure environments.The Role: To assist Chartered and Trainee Psychologists in the assessment and formulation of the psychological needs of the allocated client. To include carrying out observations, interviews, analysis of behaviours, administering psychometrics etc. as required. To provide where appropriate individually tailored psychological interventions to meet the needs of allocated clients under the supervision of a Chartered Psychologist, e.g. behavioural and cognitive-behavioural interventions. To support healthcare staff to implement programmes arising from such assessment and individually tailored psychological interventions. To monitor and evaluate the programmes where required and advise senior staff and the Chartered Psychologist accordingly. To liaise closely with the Chartered Psychologist and keep him/her appraised of significant issues concerning clients. To attend meetings as directed to discuss the needs of allocated clients or service activities or projects. To provide written reports and/or contribute to MDT reports and attend Annual Reviews/other Reviews as required. To contribute to the administration of outcome measures, clinical audit, activity and work recording and service evaluations as appropriate.
