Job Description

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant 3 (Allotment and Sports), you will be providing comprehensive gardening and sports-led therapy interventions and work under supervision of the Occupational Therapy team to facilitate individual and group sessions.It is essential you have some experience within a similar role as you will be facilitating a range of sessions for patients.Your responsibilities:

  • To plan and participate in sessions on the Allotment and in the Sports Department
  • To adhere to all local policies, procedures and protocols.
  • In liaison with the Occupational Therapists, actively contribute to the development of evidence based, clinically governed best practice.
  • To assist in the induction of OT staff and students as per the department standards.
  • To maintain, standardised statistical information as demanded by the service and professional practice.
  • To participate in regular service audits as directed by the Lead of Occupational Therapy.
  • To participate in case reviews, staff meetings and other meetings, in order to ensure good practice.
  • To maintain efficient and safe systems of work in relation to the ordering and safekeeping of materials, petty cash and equipment in line with budgetrestraints highlighted by the lead of occupational therapy.
  • To ensure that a safe environment is maintained for service users and staff in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) associated legislation and local policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role, youll preferably have
  • Experience of working with people with mental health needs.
  • Experience of working in a garden setting
  • Experience of working in a sports setting.
  • Experience of working in a secure setting.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • Understanding of forensic service users needs.
  • Evidence of ability to research, plan, implement and evaluate a project for a specific service user group.
  • Evidence of excellent case load and time management skills.
  • Evidence of coping strategies to deal with confrontation, challenging behaviour and stress.
