Job Description

Its not very often the words ‘chef’ and ‘social life’ go together. Well, this time they do. With this job you will work 37.5 hours a week and not be under heavy pressure and stress.Join the team at The Spinney where you will be cooking lunch and dinner for staff and service users.You will also be required to provide guidance and training to your peers.It’s a calm and pleasurable working environment, where you’ll be able to manage your workload and enjoy creating meals. There’s a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.Just imagine… two days off a week. And not stressed to the hilt.Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Prepare and cook meals to a consistently high standard.
  • Serve service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
  • Participate in food purchasing through established procedures and food costings.
  • Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation, maintaining a high standard of hygiene and adhering to cleaning schedules.
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • A comprehensive level of numeracy
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
  • Intermediate Food hygiene (desirable)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to cope under pressure
  • Experience and knowledge in menu planning and costing
