Job Description

The words head chef and social life dont often go together. Well, not this time. With this job you will not work evenings, you will only work 5 days a week, and you will not be under heavy pressure and stress.Join The Spinney in Manchester, where you will lead the team in preparing and cooking lunch and dinner for staff and service users. You will also provide guidance and training to your peers.Its a calm and pleasurable working environment, where youll be able to manage your workload and enjoy creating meals. Theres a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.Just imagine home in time for dinner every night. Two days off a week. And not stressed to the hilt.Your responsibilities:

  • To manage the kitchen team, providing support and training for chefs and catering assistants
  • Maintaining and monitoring strict budgetsin conjunction with staff
  • Implementing and maintaining standards of food for all patients, staff and visitors including cultural and life choice meals
  • To represent the catering department at internaland external meetings and visiting patients and staff on the ward
  • Implementand monitor all legislativerequirements required by the business includingfood hygiene, CQC and all other legislative needs
  • Promotion and management of Security, health and safety and human resource requirements liaisingwith the HSM
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department to meet the changing needs of the business
  • Assist in prepare, produce and present catering department reports.
  • Responsible for maintaining good storage procedures and stock rotation. Adhering to corporate purchasingrequirements
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (Intermediate desirable)
  • Supervising qualification or working towards
  • Experience preparing and producing quality food to a high standard
  • Knowledge of menu planning and costing
  • Some supervising experience
