Job Description

Cathedral Appointments is recruiting for an administrator on a part time basis. The main purpose of this role is to provide appropriate administrative support with the education sector as part of a charitable organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience of working as an administrator in a senior role and have a good understanding how to use social media and the internet in order to raise the profile and promote the services of the team. Experience of setting up and using databases and electronic systems would therefore be beneficial for this role, though not essential.Knowledge or experience of the education sector would be a distinct advantage.The role will be based in Ashburton, Newton Abbot (parking available), with some homeworking to meet Covid-Secure requirements. In the short term the role will be entirely home based.Responsibilities:

  • Answer, screen and transfer inbound phone calls and receive and direct visitors
  • General clerical duties including photocopying, email and post. Updating the website in liaison with the Communications team and other related administrative duties
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems and retrieve documents in accordance with GDPR guidance
  • Liaise with the Communications team in order to raise the profile of the Schools Commission team by using social media and the internet
  • Resolve administrative problems and enquiries and attend any relevant administrative staff meetings
  • Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for the Schools Commissioner
  • Prepare agendas for meetings and prepare schedules where appropriate
  • Record, compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings
  • Maintain office supplies and organise the maintenance of office equipment.
  • Being the main point of contact for all aspects of all Conferences including online conferences, liaising with relevant people to ensure the various aspects of the event are delivered efficiently in accordance with what has been agreed.
  • Requirements:
  • Computer literate, excellent word processing skills and Microsoft Office packages including MS TEAMS, Excel, Publisher, Word
  • Excellent and accurate typing/data input skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathise with others - important for all types of communication but particularly on the telephone
  • Problem solving skills - identify emerging problems and present solutions
  • Application and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and to deal with its content sensitively
  • Availability to work a number of weekend commitments which are planned in advance
  • Experience of having worked in a school environment would be desirable along with knowledge and understanding of schools
