Job Description

If this sounds like you, please read on to find out more about the Melting Performance Manager opportunity.How you will utilise your expertise: This role is working for Saint-Gobain PAM and you will be based out our foundry in Melton Mowbray. PAM is the premier supplier of ductile and cast iron products to the UKs key utilities, telecoms, highways, civil engineering, construction and housing companies. In a typical week we will manufacture in the region of 400 tons of products including access and drainage covers.The Performance Manager leads this team under an often pressurised and safety critical environment, ensuring safe and efficient production of iron feeding our foundry.Key duties will include

  • Manage the performance of the melting operation.
  • Manage and lead a team 15 skilled foundry operators, Department & Team Leaders
  • Oversee the weekly shut down and re-lighting of a Cupola Furnace
  • Attend daily production meetings and cascade key data to your team
  • Creation and monitoring of a training and development plan to close any skills gaps
  • Manage Continuous Improvement Projects - improving processes and procedures including - production, waste and quality
  • Driving a H&S culture with your own team and across the site
  • Develop both internal and external relationships including; Site Management Team, Maintenance Department, Process Engineers, Line Managers, Team Leaders, Production Teams and raw material suppliers

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Experience leading a team in an industrial manufacturing/engineering environment (foundry experience preferable but not essential)
  • Metallurgical understanding would be an advantage, or an interest/ knowledge in chemistry
  • A strong people manager with great communication and influencing skills
  • Flexible with regards to working hours - this is primarily a days role, however your responsibility spans 3 shifts covering a 24-hour operation which on occasion may require your support outside of your usual working hours.
