Job Description

Together were shaping/creating a cleaner, greener future for our 11 million customers who we put at the heart of everything we do.About The RoleThis role provides an opportunity to influence the long-term plans for Cadents largest investment area; our low pressure distribution mains and services which we currently invest approximately £500m per annum in. With plans set to 2026, youll be lookingat how the HSE mandated iron mains replacement programme gets completed and evaluating Cadents options for managing the risk of iron mains beyond the end of the HSE mandated programme in 2032.Youll not only need to consider Safety, our primary investment driver, but also the reduction of carbon emissions (methane) and the financial implications of different replacement programmes. Moreover, youll be close to the evolving plans for convertingthe network to Hydrogen and the role of distribution mains plays in that.This role will provide opportunities to work with a range of colleagues in Cadent and prepare investment plans for external stakeholders, including our regulator Ofgem. The successful candidate will acquire fantastic skills, experience and knowledge whichwill leave them well placed for opportunities closer to Delivery and Operations in one of the 5 networks.Functional Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the creation and embedding of Asset Management Strategies and the delivery of the associated Asset Strategy Plans in order to achieve Cadents objectives and meet our regulatory commitments
  • Responsible for asset class strategies that will set the basis and engineering justification for future business plans by optimising the balance of cost, risk and performance of the gas distribution network assets in line with our customer and stakeholderexpectations
  • Lead and support projects to improve Cadents Asset Management Maturity
  • Responsible for the agreed asset decision support frameworks to optimise delivery of the business plan
  • Maximise opportunities to apply process improvement and best practice methodologies (where appropriate) to improve process efficiency
Specialist AccountabilitiesUsing the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) model for Asset Management, the post holder will:
  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of long term Asset Management Strategies which recognises existing regulatory commitments and aligns to Cadents overall Asset Management Policy (G/30) and Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP)
  • Be responsible for the development of relevant Decision Support Frameworks to support delivery of asset strategies and ensure consistent decision making for investment within the networks
  • Be responsible for the development of a long-term investment plan to deliver relevant the Asset Strategies, including the evaluation of investment options using whole life costing principles, the approach for acquiring new assets and contingency planning
  • Support in the development of capability building and skills required within the Asset Management function, including the culture and competence requirements of the team
  • Support in providing assurance to the Head of Department of the progress and performance against plan of asset strategies including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Liaison with relevant local Investment Planning Offices to understand delivery against plan to ensure the strategies are effective
  • Ensure by effective stakeholder engagement that Asset Management Strategies are deliverable and that the business plan is aligned to both financial requirements and resource constraints
  • Be responsible for working with the SAMP team, the Asset Data team, and the Investment Planning Offices to drive improved asset data for effective asset decision-making
  • Contribute to the development of Cadents Asset Management Policy (G/30) and overall Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP)
  • Support resolution of any relevant internal/external audit actions
  • Contribute the Cadent Asset Management Community of Practice (IAM based principles)
About You
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent business experience
  • Incorporated Engineer or equivalent recognised certification in Asset Management.
  • Membership of professional institution relevant to the role ideally to Chartered Status is desirable
