Job Description

We are proud to be working with a well-known client in the Ashbourne area who are looking for a Purchasing Controller for their FMCG business.The purpose of this role is to ensure that the stores and parts are in an orderly fashion with adequate stock levels throughout. The ideal candidate will have some buying and purchasing experience as you will be sourcing parts and negotiating with suppliersto ensure you are getting the best price possible.You will report into the Engineering manager.Job Role and Responsibilities:

  • To provide purchasing support to the Engineers and Managers as listed above
  • Validates all purchasing costs and seeks to obtain best value on all purchases
  • Ensure the expenditure tracking is up-to-date, accurate and distributed in time
  • Raise all purchasing orders according to procedure, ensuring correct delivery
  • date, correct categorisation, and item detail
  • Manage the Site engineering stores and stock reports
  • Collate goods received and ensure proper receipting by the stores assistant
  • Order goods and services from contractors / suppliers
  • Answer and deal with any purchasing queries as necessary
  • Help manage the site capital cost tracking report
  • All relevant CMMS and ERP data entry as necessary
  • Proactive approach in continuous improvement for department
  • Manage the work: assess the day-to-day performance and review the training
  • needs for engineering stores assistant.
  • Follow all SOPs in relation to purchasing including bidding rules/capex
  • procedure etc and have a sound understanding of engineering procedures such
  • as contractor protocol, permits to work
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Numeracy and literacy skills
  • Inventory management experience
  • Good inter-personal skills
  • Familiar with Engineering,
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Mechanical and Electrical
  • Manage spend according to a budget process
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Experience in a food production / FMCG
  • High degree of IT literacy including Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Warehouse Management Systems
  • Experience with a recognised supply chain SAP /ERP systems
  • Previous purchasing experience
  • Negotiation Experience
  • Valid Forklift license (desirable)
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good stock and purchasing skills with an engineering bias. You will be responsible for the stock reports and weekly expenditures and the ideal person will challenge exceptions and overspend and report backto the engineering manager in a timely and efficient manner.If you feel you have the experience for this position, then please apply and send us your most up to date.
