Job Description

The RoleThe UK Sales Manager role is primarily responsible for developing a strong network of motorcycle apparel dealers that will stock and promote the Merlin apparel line. These Merlin stockists may come from motorcycle franchises that have clothing departmentsor from clothing only store operations.The network should achieve a number of criterias[1] Throughout the UK a motorcyclist should be able to find within reasonable riding distance a Merlin stockist where they may view, try and buy a Merlin product line[2] The network is likely to be made up on a hierarchy of dealer types from hero stockists who carry most or all of the Merlin line, who see Merlin as a key part of their business and who through these things have highly trained and motivated clothingsales people biased heavily toward Merlin. From this of course there are mid to smaller footprint dealers who in their way are highly committed to Merlin and we are represented and promoted well given the available footprint.[3] Whatever the size or scope of the Merlin stockist, our Merlin consumer visiting the stockist should find a clear understanding of any Merlin product, be able to help with technical information about the product and be committed to explainingthe bang for buck attributes of a Merlin product ~ to be advocates for the Merlin brand, the product line up and the benefits.Over time the UK Sales Manager is likely to recruit either areas sales managers or area agents to ensure the Merlin stockist network is well served and loved by the Merlin operational infrastructure.As a UK brand, and despite the huge growth in digital operators the store network continues to be seen as the shop window of reference for our growing network of international partners. The UK network should be our gold standard of dealer networkswhere international visitors can see first hand how networks can and are built by Merlin.The Key DeliverablesThe UK dealer network has lacked attention for a period now; in part because the Covid-19 pandemic stopped dealer sites from operating and before this the retirement of the UK leader. There are too many locations in the UK where a Merlin buyer isnot able to access a Merlin stockist. With this backdrop the key deliverable is to reverse this position; to establish the appropriate network of Merlin stockists allowing the Merlin consumer to access a Merlin stockist within a reasonable travel time. Toensure the mix of network meets the desire of Merlin in so far as we have the right blend of hero stockists and standard stockists, but all will a motivated advocacy of Merlin. The right candidate will be a blend of strategist, operator, salesman and friend.
