Getinge, a global medical devices company, are looking to recruit a Commissioning Engineer for our Life Sciences team.Job Purpose:To effectively commission a range of Getinge products and to establish and maintain good customer relations by demonstrating a professional approach to work.Key duties and responsibilities:

  • To carry out commissioning of equipment to the relevant standards under the terms and conditions of the client’s contract.
  • To cultivate a positive rapport with the customer, demonstrating first class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
  • To carry out electrical/mechanical fault finding of equipment.
  • To carry out calibration of equipment.
  • To produce quality documentation for submission to the customer.
  • To work with all UK functions and Getinge factories to ensure that any issues which may hinder the successful completion and hand over of equipment are resolved with minimal impact to project timelines.
  • To maintain regular communication with the internal Sales Department and Project Manager for the associated project.
  • To ensure the company equipment is being used and looked after correctly and that it is kept in a safe condition. To report all faulty equipment or equipment out of calibration to the Projects Commissioning Team Manager.
  • To ensure that correct returns and non-conformance report procedures are followed.
  • To organize and prioritize a continuously changing workload, ensuring that all customers’ calls and enquiries are replied to.
  • To ensure safe and tidy working including use of PPE where required for local site working.
  • To problem solve, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all aspects of the position.
  • To provide sales leads to Sales Manager.
  • To read and comply with current relevant legislative documentation and internal Getinge test procedures.
  • To produce written reports, as and when required/requested.
  • To attend Factory Acceptance Tests when required.
  • To submit accurately completed expense claim forms, with supportive documentation, on time.
  • To organise own overnight accommodation as and when required.
  • To assist the team members as and when required/requested.
  • To report immediately any site down time to the Project Manager to allow a decision to be made whether it is chargeable or not.
  • To maintain telephone contact with the office on a regular basis and with line supervisor.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Experience:The post holder must hold:
  • City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • HTM2010/2030 qualification.
  • CSCS Engineering Services (Commissioning Engineer) Skills Card.
  • In depth knowledge of SCADA and PLC (including AB and S7 may need to add PACS, Centric and B&R Controllers) Systems Solutions a distinct advantageTo be able to carry out a dynamic risk assessments of the job site, record and report when necessary.Personal qualities:The post holder must have a genuine interest in people and be able to deal with customers in a friendly manner, often within stressful situations. The post holder must be flexible to changes in workload and location which may be required with minimal notice. It is important that the post holder provides an excellent service on behalf of the Company.
