Job Description

My client is an established manufacturer the produces a range personal care products, from hair care, skin care, to body care. They are now looking to recruit a talented formulation / development chemist to join their development team. You will be responsible for new product development formulations from the laboratory through to commercialisation. You would be joining a company who are passionate about developing their employees.The Role:

  • Leading the development process from briefing, formulation approvals, assisting with raw material and new technology research
  • Owning responsibility for whole project from receiving the customer brief through to supervising initial production and scale up trials
  • Identifying new products, this will include; researching products and ingredients, liaising with suppliers, and obtaining samples.
  • Improvement of existing products, including troubleshooting any issues and working with different departments to gain in-put.
  • Conduct laboratory and production sized trials of new formulations.
  • Source and prepare technical documentation in accordance with current procedures and systems.
  • Identify opportunities and conduct field research to remain up-to-date with products available on the market and new product launches.
    • The Candidate:
  • Degree qualified in chemistry or science.
  • Experience developing a range of cosmetic or personal care products in industry.
  • Experience in product formulations, preferably in Bath & Body Care, Skin Care and Hair Care.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry, including emulsions, emollients, sunscreens, surfactants would be advantageous.
  • Have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team.
