We are the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. So, when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to take on the future.About the role:Are you a Senior Registered Mental Health Nurse/ RMN with a passion for delivering high quality care and looking to broaden your clinical experience Do you have knowledge and experience of delivering recovery focussed interventions to adults Experience of working with military and veteran populations would be welcome but it is by no means a pre-requisite for application. Would you like your career to take a different direction into a friendly and professional organisation This is the post for you if so.The Senior Nurse will work autonomously within a small multidisciplinary team to provide a timely and high quality specialised mental health service for veterans.You will provide flexible and individualised care packages to meet the mental health requirements of veterans with mental health needs, which could include the co-ordination of complex care for a defined caseload. The post holder will require specialist clinical risk assessment and treatment skills, along with an understanding of the occupational role and needs of individuals presenting to the service. The role will require you to be proactive in the development of service and organisational initiatives.You will have…Experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registrationThe ability to maintain documentation, undertake audits and demonstrate integrity in your roleEnthusiasm and experience and be willing to undertake specialist training in working with former military personnel with mental health conditions.Ideally (but not essential) previous experience of working with Armed Forces personnel and their families and a thorough knowledge of the network of support services available for veterans and their familiesExceptional communication and people skills and the emotional resilience to help veterans in their recovery.A commitment to patient recovery in order to effectively monitor, manage and reduce riskCompassion, resilience and a dedication to empower and support service user independenceThe ability to remain calm in difficult and distressing situations, you will be an inspirational and supportive member of our team, providing training and emotional support to employees, helping them to feel safe when working with veterans and familiesThe skills to identify the potential abuse or neglect of vulnerable individuals, and will contribute to the development of protection plans under the Safeguarding Adults procedure and provide specialist consultation and liaison with other services.The opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and external agencies to ensure that appropriate family and carer support is in place, and promote the needs of veterans by providing training and support to non-specialist clinicians, military charities and others who may be involved in the care of veterans and service leavers.You will have access to your own transport and be able to work across multiple locations.
