Job Title and Grade:Band 6 - Specialist Podiatrist (Biomechanics care)Location/Trust:Wrightington Hospital, WN6 9EPDepartment Covered:TherapyPlacement Ref/ID: 45585The Role: We have an urgent long term placement opportunity for Band 6 - Specialist Podiatrist (Biomechanics care) available at Wrightington HospitalWrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute trust serving the people of Wigan and Leigh. Innovative and forward thinking, the trust provides the best possible healthcare for the local populationin the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas.Job Summary:To provide specialist, high quality, and appropriate level of musculoskeletal/ biomechanics care to clients referred by orthopaedic and rheumatology consultants at Wrightington HospitalSystem Knowledge: HIS, PACs, System 1Skills:To apply for this post, you will:

  • HCPC Registration
  • Diploma/Degree in Podiatric Medicine
  • Masters Degree or equivalent level of CPD/ experience
  • Evidence of post graduate clinical experience at Specialist level or above
  • Excellent application of Podiatry eligibility criteria to a diverse client group
  • Exemplary practical and theoretical knowledge of management of lower limb mechanics
  • Able to analyse and communicate complex, sensitive information and investigations relating to diabetic assessment outcomes to patients
  • To promote foot health both on a one to one and small groups of patients/professionals, which will include advice on biomechanics and insole management
Responsibilities:
  • To independently deliver biomechanics foot assessments, and follow-up reviews, holding a primarily biomechanical caseload
  • To formulate complex care plans for patients who have had biomechanics foot assessment, communicating the findings and risks in an appropriate way to the patient
  • To monitor and evaluate all diagnostic equipment/ orthoses /insoles needed for biomechanics treatments, reporting any faults or defects that could render them ineffective
  • To work with the lead clinician responsible for the training and design of biomechanics foot care
  • To be responsible for ordering and maintaining small stock supplies and the security of that stock. Maintenance of clinical equipment and the reporting of any faults to the appropriate department
  • To provide a comprehensive podiatry service to people with foot health needs including initial assessments, treatment/care planning, preventative, palliative, surgical and corrective care supported by appropriate health education, reviewing and evaluatingas necessary
