Job Description

Transport Supervisor Wombourne, Wolverhampton £30,000 - £32,000 MondayFriday, Days (45 Hours) Im currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join a large family run business who specialise within general haulage, automotive and FMCG operations.They are seeking a Transport Supervisor to support the current transport operation in the management of operational compliance and planning across a general haulage and automotive division.The Candidate;

  • Transport supervisory or operational experience
  • Experience within managing HGV drivers
  • Transport route planning experience is desirable
  • Strong customer service skills within a logistics operation
  • Previous experience within a fast paced transport planning position
  • Experience of using system based planning tools
  • A strong knowledge of tachograph regulations
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Competent decision making
  • Good geographical knowledge
Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Carry out the day to day procedures of the Traffic Office and instruct drivers in their daily duties to ensure that the customers requirements are met.
  • Instruct drivers fully on each job to be undertaken and ensure that they are fully aware of requirements to enable each task to be correctly completed.
  • Ensure that Drivers follow the instructions detailed in the drivers handbook and that appropriate measures are taken to prevent damage or deterioration to products during loading, transportation or delivery and that all documentation/records are suitablycompleted
  • Retrieve completed documentation at the earlier time process it in the required manner
  • Controlling/Monitoring Drivers records including Tachograph information
  • Liaise with the workshop to ensure defected, Service and MOT equipment available as agreed and kept in safe and legal condition
  • Route planning for full loads & general haulage
  • Using geographical knowledge to maximise the fleet ability to work
  • Responsible for driver queries face to face and via telephone
  • Ensuring drivers are up to date with any road problems and challenging drivers when needed to ensure Deliveries are on time
  • Provide the communication link between customers and drivers
  • Managing your drivers daily activities in line with the Working Time Directive and Driving hours.
  • Ensuring every customer receives excellent customer service
