Job Description

Therapeutic Team LeaderWe are currently recruiting for a Team Leader within a specialist Therapeutic Children’s Home based in Staffordshire. My Client is located a five-minute walk from a thriving village centre and close to a vibrant community and important amenities. At the same time the premises provide a setting of peace, calm and privacy. This includes woodland, formal garden, lawn and large play areas within the private grounds of over 5 acres. My client is an intensive trauma informed therapeutic service for children and young people who have suffered developmental trauma, neglect and disrupted attachment, they provide short- and long-term residential services for young people aged from 11-18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties, in a therapeutic homely environment.As a Therapeutic Team Leader you will need to have:

  • QCF/NVQ 3 in Care (preferably children and young people) or equivalent
  • A sound knowledge of child care and child development, developed through working directly with children and young people
  • Able to take responsibility for the operation of the home in the absence of the Registered Manage
  • Actively listens, articulates, encourages openness, clearly sets expectations and ensures the message is understood. Adapts to the audience in style and method both verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Experience of working with young people in a residential care setting
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of current child care legislation
  • Ability to manage personal and professional boundaries and guide staff in providing consistent practice and care
  • A positive role model who leads from the front, drives the achievement of business objectives through planning, implementing, reviewing, and engaging the team
  • Details:
  • Salary: £10.50- Working 10-12 shifts per month + 4 Sleep ins (paid at £65 per sleep in)

  • Role of a Team Leader:
  • Working in collaboration with the Deputy Manager, ensure that all staff engage and build positive working relationship with the young people individually and as a group and understand group dynamics.
  • Actively contribute towards the provision of quality care, within which the health, welfare, education and development of young people is promoted
  • To contribute towards the maintenance of a positive, safe and homely environment, including the promotion of a warm and accepting atmosphere, where the safety and care of young people is paramount.
  • To work actively in partnership with parents, social workers and other professionals and agencies to fulfill effectively the responsibility of parenting young people and to ensure the maintenance and promotion of appropriate family links. Ensure reports for ‘Looked After’ reviews are written accurately and appropriately, guiding staff where needed and within the prescribed timescale.
  • To provide formal supervision to individual members of staff
  • To take day to day responsibility for the running of the shift and giving appropriate support and direction to the staff team. Assist the Registered Manager in producing the rota and in the deployment of the staff to ensure adequate staff cover.
  • Undertake and ensure all electronic and paper recording systems are completed daily whilst on shift in line with the company’s recording protocols. Participate in handover, team meetings etc.
