Job Description

Support Worker – £9.26 per hour – Wirksworth, Derbyshire (and surrounding area)The RoleAre you a woman who would welcome an amazing and rewarding opportunity to work with adults with learning disabilities and Autism If so, we are seeking a Support Worker to support the independence of those with learning disabilities and encourage them to live their lives to the full.While previous experience is advantageous, it is not essential – we simply ask that you share with us the belief that people should be treated with dignity, respect and be supported to live as independently as possible.The key responsibilities of a Support Worker include, but are not limited to:

  • To support Service Users within their Home and the community, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives, and supporting them to make their own life choices.
  • Providing practical support relating to all aspects of daily living.
  • To promote positive, professional links with other organisations and relevant agencies to improve the opportunities of those we support.
  • The CompanyThe company provides support services for adults with learning disabilities. We have built up specialist expertise that enables us to provide quality support to adults with various needs, with an aim to support, develop and deliver services that are personalised.We provide 24-hour support to 3 supported living houses in Amber Valley and Derbyshire Dales in which 12 adults with a learning disability have individual tenancy agreements. Also, an outreach service provision to service users within the communityThe BenefitsThe benefits of being a Support Worker are:
  • Additional sleepover payment of £78.48 per sleepover.
  • All training provided.
  • The PersonSome of the key skills and qualities of a Support Worker:
  • Experience desirable but not necessary; an NVQ 2 or any other similar qualifications in health and social care or related subjects is advantageous.
  • Due to nature of the employment, we are only looking for female applicants at this time this in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
  • Candidate must drive a car.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with vulnerable people and their families, able to gain their trust and build good relationships with them.
  • A knowledge of the emotional and practical difficulties a person we support may face
  • Good listening skills, with an empathetic approach to people we support and a strong interest in assisting others
