Rullion Limited are currently recruiting on behalf of a large utilities company, who require several Water Quality Officers, on a temporary contract basis. The roles are based in Davyhulme, Winsford, Fazakerley, Penrith and Preston. The start date is 15thNovember 2021. Pay rate is £13.93 per hour plus shift allowance.The purpose of this role is to manage and carry out the process of gathering samples for regulatory and operational purposes including the undertaking of field testing activities. On collection samples are transported (either directly or indirectly) to alaboratory for testing.Accountabilities* To plan out a daily route for sample collection, the route being chosen to maximise sampling efficiency and minimising transport costs* To collect samples, following pre-determined Quality Procedures and Quality Instructions, Samples are taken from all points from bath to bay and source to tap to include but not limited to process samples, compliance samples, environmental samples, mainsrepairs, customer complaints, incidents and events* Perform field tests, for example, but not limited to (pH, taste and odour, free and total chlorines, temperature etc) samples taken by sampling officers following pre-determined Quality Instructions* To create a positive interaction with Customers* To interpret and briefly explain the findings of field tests, including visual examination of the water supply, for customers who query the analysis* Submit the samples and field data to the Laboratory properly matched and linked to the daily sampling schedule, via appropriate current processes and using technology as required. The data normally being processed via electronic hand held device (PDA)* To ensure that samples will meet strict time targets for delivery to the Laboratory* Operate the sampling vehicle safely so that incidents involving driver error are minimised* Follow clearly defined Analytical Quality Control Instructions to monitor the quality of the testing carried out in the field and reporting exceptional "out of control" results to strict timescalesKnowledge and Skills* Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths, English and Science* A high degree of social skills for working in a customer orientated environment* Experienced in dealing with difficult customers* Full driving licence* Basic computer skills to data entry is essential* Comfortable with lone working* Basic knowledge of disinfection principles, water and wastewater treatment* Maintain relevant and up to date Continuous Professional Development (CPD) records to meet the requirements of DWI regulation 16Please note you will be required to undertake a taste and odour test at interview stage.Should your application be successful, and you are offered the role, a number of pre-employment checks need to be carried out before your appointment can be confirmed.
